The caste system fostered the idea of untouchability.
Casteism is a social evil that has plagued India for centuries. It is a system of social stratification that divides people into different groups based on their birth. This system has been used to justify discrimination and oppression against certain groups of people. The Christian faith teaches that all people are created equal in the eyes of God and that we should love our neighbors as ourselves. Discrimination based on caste is therefore incompatible with Christian teachings.
Casteism is not only a problem for the Christian faith but for all of humanity. It is a violation of human rights and dignity. The United Nations has recognized caste-based discrimination as a form of discrimination that needs to be addressed1. The Indian Constitution also prohibits discrimination based on caste2.
The Bible teaches that all people are created in the image of God and that we should treat others as we would like to be treated. In Galatians 3:28, it says “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This verse emphasizes the importance of treating all people equally and not discriminating based on social status.
Casteism is a sin that goes against the teachings of the Bible. We should work together to end this practice and promote equality and justice for all people. As it says in Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
It is important for us to work together to end casteism and promote equality and justice for all people.
Deva.
